As part of the Year of Chinese Culture in Turkey, more than 70 events are organized throughout Turkey, a special exhibition is taking place at this moment in Topkapı Palace, residence of the Ottoman sultans from 1459 to 1853. It opened its doors on 20 November 2012 and will last 3 months.
The exhibition entitled “Treasures of China” (Çin’in Hazineleri) has more than one hundred Chinese antique pieces loaned by no less than 11 cultural organizations such as the Palace Museum in Beijing, the Shanghai Museum, the Shaanxi history Museum or the Museum of the mausoleum of Emperor Qin.
Visitors will have the opportunity to discover such statutes in terracotta depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China who was buried around the tomb of the latter between 246 and 210 BC Archaeologists estimate that there are over 8000 statutes, all carrying different expressions on their faces. Many sculptures of chariots, horses, and also musicians were also buried around the tomb of the emperor. The Exhibition has travelled around the globe since its discovery in differnt museums and places like British museum in,London , National Geographic Society Museum in Washington D.C. , Forum de Barcelona, Centro Cultural La Moneda in Santiago de Chile and many others.
